The root of Valerian, a perennial
herb native to North America,
Asia, and Europe, is used most
commonly for its sedative and
hypnotic properties for people
with insomnia. It provides a good night's sleep without the morning grogginess experienced with sleeping pills. Research has shown Valerian to be effective when taken nightly over one to two week periods, and to be a safe sedative/hypnotic choice in patients with mild to moderate insomnia.
Valerian is also a cure for anxiety as well as a muscle relaxant without the overkill of man made sedatives such as valium.
About 40 million Americans have chronic sleep disorders. About 10 million people take prescription sedatives such as Valium and Halcion. These medicines have serious side effects, including a risk of addiction, overdose and withdrawal problems. In some users Halcion has side effects of psychotic disturbances, memory loss and hallucinations.
Valerian has been used for over a thousand years as nature's sleeping pill, sedative and muscle relaxant. There is documented evidence that it works to calm you down, tame the brain, reduce anxiety, induce sleep, relieve stress and relax muscles, all this without any of the dangers and side effects of prescription drugs!
So, given a choice between man made, expensive prescription drugs or Valerian, you may want to give give the ancient version a shot before using the "new" imitations. It's safe, effective, very inexpensive, and a whole lot better for you...
**Note from the author: I am not a doctor, a medical researcher or an expert in the field of anti-aging. The information on this website is a result of my own personal experiences. Eight years ago, at the age of 59, and after extensive research I began a regimented anti-aging program of my own design with very positive results and no adverse affects. At age 67 I am healthy, disease free, (not so much as a sniffle in 8 yrs) energetic, full of vitality, in good physical condition and (many would say) look younger than my age would suggest. This website is a result of my passion for the subject. Not all of the products discussed here are for everyone. Before launching such a program for yourself please consult your doctor.
